Edgar is managing our Plettenberg Bay office and brings more than 30 years of legal experience gained in South Africa and internationally. He was admitted as an attorney in South Africa in 1996, as a conveyancer in 1997 and as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2003, where he practised law for eight years. Before joining BDP, he spent 14 years as Head of Legal at an international investment fund manager based in Mauritius, advising on cross-border transactions, corporate governance, regulatory compliance and investments throughout Africa and the Middle East.

Edgar’s practice focuses on property law, conveyancing, estate planning and corporate and commercial law. He combines international legal experience with local knowledge, providing foreign investors and South African clients alike with practical legal advice delivered to international standards. His practice has a particular focus on assisting foreign buyers investing in South African property, expatriates returning to South Africa, and private clients with local and international assets. He also advises on company and trust structures, shareholder agreements, business acquisitions and succession planning, working closely with estate agents, financial advisers, accountants and overseas professional advisers to provide clients with a seamless legal service across jurisdictions.

He obtained a master’s degree in Development Finance from Stellenbosch Business School in 2021.

Based in Plettenberg Bay, Edgar offers clients the accessibility and personal service of a local attorney, backed by the resources, specialist expertise and established conveyancing practice of one of the Western Cape’s leading law firms. He works closely with estate agents and private clients, providing practical legal advice with a responsive, hands-on approach.

Outside the office, Edgar is a keen ultra distance cyclist and has completed the 2,200 km Freedom Challenge in South Africa and the 2,000 km Silk Road Mountain Race in Kyrgyzstan.
